THIS IS ONLY A PREVIEW IMAGE, DOWNLOAD THE ARCHIVE TO SEE ALL THE PICTURES AND NOTES

This is my final submission for =Endling's contest.

It's not just this picture, accompanying it is an archive containing:

  • Step notes: A text file containing a list of the steps this project went through and my thoughts on certain aspects and certain issues that I have encountered. (i.e. The alpha issue around parts of the hair)

  • The images from the previous submissions here, here and here

  • A entirely new set of images to show off the model in it's completed stage, including more serious and cute poses than flipping someone off. ;P

Really though, I think that everyone should like them, I even threw together an entire cottage to show her off in, I love the way it's lit, and she looks so cute in some of the pics and poses. ~

I urge everyone to take a look at the zip file, I only chose a neutral sort of pic for the preview and you're missing out if you don't check it out. Also, I think the retrospective notes in the text file are humorous to read. :D

It's only about 7mb, but you'd be crazy not to get it.

.:EDIT:.
If nobody is willing to read the bloody notes, this was modelled and mapped in 3D Gamestudio. Textures were made in Photoshop.

In 3DGS there are no smoothing tools for backgrounds and no fancy tools to build nice looking shit for you.

Hey there Aphius, for some reason I just now noticed this...I guess I was distracted by all the Saria and Malon shots...

But yeah, this is a really awsome model. She's actually kinda cute. Except I think her eyes or maybe the claw marks around her eyes make her seem all dark and scary like. A few of the variety shots made her look pretty cute. But I can't quite get myself past the creepyness.

Also though i'm likely stating the obvious here, all this model work must look great for your resume. You're really talented. Though I wish you'd give us some Midna fanservice already D:

Well she is from *Endling's creepy fairy-tale type comic thing, I have those claw marks there only because they were on the actual character design, they're not really my design. :)

Hey, I'd love to give you fanservice, once I learn to rig models in 3DSMax I'll be set. :D

Oh snap, you actually got around to replying. I'll have to check up on Endling's comic now won't I... Let me know once you've mastered the model riggery : D Then we can all rejoice in epic Midna fanservice! (Others are fine too, ;3)

that you did the whole thing in the MED~
i cant work with that thing O.X

hm.. and do you have a special way to directly see how it looks in the end?
actually i am often hitting ctrl+shift+s, clicking through dialogs and then ultimate unwrap updates it... isnt there a faster way?
how is your workflow?

Huh? Ultimate unwrap? I haven't used an external UV mapping program since my 'The Sims' modelling days. :o

The 3D GameStudio modeller has it's own skin mapper, so I model something, use that to create the skin map and then apply a skin (usually created in photoshop), and it's shown directly in the 3D viewport. :)

I am looking to move to something with a bit more flexibility though. :XD:
